Since its creation in the early 1970s, The Sedona Method has been taught to hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. Nearing the end of a recent Sedona Method Retreat held in Sedona, AZ, one of the attendees spoke about her experience:

“I’m struck by how many of us are from different countries and different cultures, yet we came together this week. There were no cultural boundaries, no race boundaries, no religious boundaries – we all just came together as One World.”

When you do therapy with someone, you try to fit their problems in a box and you are mostly looking for a reason. All methods I’ve worked with have done this. Release What is Holding You Back

The Method teaches you to release the limiting emotions that are holding you back by asking some simple questions. “Acknowledging your feelings is the first step in releasing them,” says Dwoskin. “Once you recognize that the feeling is just a feeling, it is not a fact and it is not you, it becomes easy to let it go. As you naturally let go and disengage with your stories you’ll feel like you are free to allow them to dissolve. Many people in the retreats get to a point where they can’t even remember what it was they were so concerned about. They end up laughing about their supposed problems.”

Dwoskin continues, “At your core you already are the happiness you are seeking in all the wrong places. All you need to do is uncover this natural happiness by letting go of the unhappiness or limitation that appears to be covering it. Or by simply discovering that which is within you which is already free.”

Sedona Method Graduate and Secret Teacher Marci Shimoff in the release of her new best-selling book Happy For No Reason lauds the ability of The Sedona Method to help people be happy and successful. This new book features Mariel Hemingway’s story of how she used The Sedona Method to conquer her family’s propensity towards depression and become much happier.

People’s tendency to hold on and be attached to unhappy thoughts and feelings can appear very strong. Most of us have been suppressing or expressing our emotions for as long as we can remember. By identifying with our stories and emotions we constantly reinforce being attached to, adverse to, or victimized by, our thoughts and feelings. The Sedona Method helps us realize that we are not our thoughts, feelings or stories. As a result, we break this attachment and aversion and settle in as the peace of simply being.

“During the 7 Day Retreat, I worked with Hale around my son who has migraine headaches and is addicted to drugs. He has been living with his mother for the past three years with her basically taking care of him. He has not been able to hold a job during this time. I’ve been trying to fix him for 30 years with no results. When I released with Hale, I let go of trying to figure out what to do about him.

This morning I checked my cell phone and there was a message from my son. He has gotten a job in Florida and made arrangements to move to a halfway house. His well-being has been one of my last issues to deal with. I can now allow him his own experience and love him unconditionally whether or not he stays off drugs.”
 
A Unique Approach for You

The Sedona Method is unique in that it doesn’t ask us to cover over our negative thoughts with positive ones. “Positive thinking alone can’t bring happiness, peace or success,” says Dwoskin. “It’s my experience that our negative thoughts and feelings just surface elsewhere if we try to force ourselves to think or feel positively. Acknowledging them and seeing through the illusion that they are about a separate person brings an end to suffering.”
